THE YOUNG AT HEART
(Main Street Baptist’s Senior Adult Ministry)
The Senior Adult Ministry of our church is just what the name implies: a group of “young at heart” seniors who enjoy learning, having fun, and above all, serving God. The organization was formed in April,1996 and continues to be a vital part of Main Street Baptist Church.
The Young at Heart usually meet the second Monday of each month at 11:00 A.M. in the fellowship hall of the church. There is a time of devotion and prayer, business, an interesting and informative program, games, covered dish luncheon or lunch at a local restaurant and fellowship.
Day trips are scheduled often, and at least once a year, there is an overnight trip for the group to enjoy. These lively seniors are not all about having fun. They are involved in mission projects as well. Once a quarter, the group goes to a local retirement/assisted living home and enjoys refreshments and a time of singing with the residents. The Young at Heart has recently begun a ministry with a local nursing home by visiting and interacting with residents who have no one to visit them and who are truly alone. The group also makes monetary contributions to the church’s various mission projects.
The organization’s membership is not limited to the senior adults from Main Street Baptist Church. It includes seniors from other denominations. All seniors are welcome and are invited to come and see what The Young at Heart is all about!!!
